This
young buck is our “dream cross”. We were so impressed with
his grand dam Barbie and other Talon daughters that we saw, that
we purchased Talon in the fall of 2004. Unfortunately he
died in December of 2004, but our idea was to breed Beauty back to
Talon (her grand sire) and keep a buck which was
fulfilled. Beauty is as close to our
ideal as we have reached at this time and
apparently the appraiser agreed as her score for 2007 is
93 EEEE!!! Her son, Berretta looks just like a male version of her
with a little more uphill stance and more strength--a very correct
and handsome young buck. Coming from our strongest dam line—his
dam is a 2rd generation SGCH, 3rd generation
permanent Champion, and 2nd excellent, and linebred on
Talon. The Berretta daughters so far are everything
that we have expected them to be!
In 2008 three daughters earned dry legs, in three different
herds in three different states, from three different
dams!
The
daughters are freshening beautifully! High, wide rear udders
with lovely archs and good teat placement. Long smooth fore
udders and lots of milk! Berretta improves dairy character,
levelness of topline and that uphill
look.
