Serenity is our token Nubian milker, though she is hard to miss!  She is as tall as any doe in the herd, including our largest LaMancha doe Tickle. To us Serenity is very special, not only because she is beautiful and is such a persistent milker but she was a gift from one of our best goat friends Tim Vanzant. Tim thought he owed me a favor, which I did not agree with, therefore he was going to give me a doe kid in the spring. I told him that was not necessary and pretty much forgot about it until around April when he emailed that he had several nice kids on the ground and to come up and pick one out!  At his insistence I did and Serenity came home with me. I had showed her dam, Sara, at KY State Fair the year before to GCH Nubian Sr. doe and loved that doe line.  Serenity was all legs and gangly and was 19th out of 21 her only time shown as a kid.  I still liked her though and the next year as a dry yearling she was 1st over Timʼs dry yearling that had been 3rd at Nationals in a large class--wow.  Not shown again until her two year old year she came in with a lovely udder, but still needed body capacity and was 1st in one ring at State Fair and 5th in the other. In 2006 she has bloomed even more and was GCH at her first show out, 2nd in both rings at State Fair to other Risinʼ Creek does. She looked her best at NAILE in November and there she went GCH Sr. Nubian!!! We were so proud and continue to tell anyone who will listen about our gift from Tim!! If you are looking for beautiful Nubians, give Tim at Risinʼ Creek a look!  Serenity kidded in June this year with large triplets and just did not milk, look or even act herself.  She had a rough pregnancy and took a long time healing.  She did look really good on appraisal day and scored 91!  Bred to our new Nubian herdsire Hunter and due in March we look forward to a more normal year next year!
